#1: If… Insects Had Human-Like Brains
May 4th, 2008 by Jon
If Insects had human-like brains… The thought alone makes me shiver. Think about all of your encounters with insects in your life. From stepping on an innocent ant, spraying poison on a bee hive, swatting at fly’s to trying to step on and kill a spider that skittered away to safety.

Now think… what if that spider that got away had a brain that could process human thoughts and feelings such as anger and revenge. Not only that, this spider could communicate and plan intelligently with other spiders to form a plan of attack to get back at you for attempting to step on him. It is hard enough for most people to deal with spiders with their tiny insect brains as it is. Needless to say, this is a scary thought…
Adding a human brain to even the seemingly harmless insects of the world can turn them into a nightmare as well. Imagine normal grasshoppers jumping around aimlessly. Not too scary is it? They are actually pretty fun to watch hop around. Now imagine grasshoppers with a human brain. Wow, those things can jump pretty high, far and fast. I wonder if they have heard of chocolate covered grasshoppers? If so, they probably want some revenge. I am not sure how they would do it, but I know I wouldn’t want hundreds or thousands of them jumping all over me.
Now maybe some bugs such as grasshoppers would not be as scary as others with human brains, but scary nonetheless. I think spiders, bees, wasps, scorpions, ants and mosquitos would scare me the most.
I know this is one scary thing that I do NOT want to see.
