#13… If Bowling Pins Could Feel Pain
Jun 3rd, 2008 by Jon
…If Bowling pins could feel pain, there would be a lot more pain in the world that we would never know about. There would be no sounds of pain, no screams, grunts, groans or yelps. The bowling pins would simply be taking hit after hit from large rolling boulders that we throw at them. And to us, we would hear the sweet sound of the the pins crashing together and all falling down, oblivious to the pain we are causing. That sound would not be so sweet to the bowling pins and neither would the sound of bowling balls speeding toward them down the lane. The pins would wonder who will be hit this time? 1 of us? All of us?

Meanwhile, America would have no idea. Bowling is one of the most popular sports in the country, largely in part that pretty much anyone can play it. I have heard of 80 year old blind guys that still play the game and I have seen 3 year olds play the game. I am sure the pins would prefer these types of bowlers over most, with much slower speeds and less than good accuracy. But there are others who would certainly make up for this…
The pro bowlers and the guys that huck the ball down the lane at 20+ mph are the ones that would be feared most. When they were bowling, it would be like Armageddon to the pins. Thunderous crashes would cause pins to go flying every which way. Rarely would there be one left standing. Then they would all be stood up again by a huge mechanical beast to only have it happen again… over and over and over. It is certain that the biggest fear of bowling pins would be the dreaded 300 game. Yet, somehow it would be the greatest achievement for us bowlers. As a bowler myself, it is hard to think what if bowling pins could feel pain… other than it would be quite scary. Lets just hope that they don’t.
