#23… If John McCain Became President
Sep 1st, 2008 by Jon
It would be pretty scary if John McCain became president. John McCain has kept mostly quiet up until recently, most likely planning his campaign run and his strategy for taking down Obama while Obama and Hillary battled it out for the democratic nomination. Now that the the presidential race is fully underway, McCain has shown that he is not above putting out nasty messages about Obama and his policies and beliefs. I have no doubt that we will see more attacks on Obama’s character coming from McCain’s side throughout the election. It is as if the old man was just waiting for the right time to begin his full on assault and pounce on and do as much damage to Obama’s character as he can. It is a scary side of McCain that was bound to come out sooner or later. I mean look at the guy, he definitely looks like the villain between the two candidates.

Speaking of McCain being old however, this is one of the scariest things about him potentially leading our nation. It is natural that as people begin to reach their 60’s and 70’s, they lose the ability to function at 100% both physically and mentally. The memory deteriorates, rationale goes out the window and the body just can’t do what it once could. These all factor into what could be a crazy and scary presidential term for McCain if he is to win this election. Imagine McCain trying to strengthen foreign relations and forgetting foreign leaders’ names when meeting them or forgetting which were allies and which were not. I have this funny image in my mind of McCain chasing young hoodlums off of the white house front lawn just like an honory old man. Of course this would never happen, but think of what COULD happen. McCain’s age is definitely a factor in this presidential race. It is not a big deal when an average Joe like you or me forgets something, but when it is the president, that is a completely different story.
The scariest thing about McCain as president however I think is that he would be out of touch with a large chunk of Americans. At 71 years old, he may not even know what a blackberry or an ipod is. McCain will be making decisions that will have a huge affect on the lives of millions of young adults that he likely does not understand. Will McCain be able to put things into perspective and listen to the young people of our nation in order to make decisions in their best interest? It is hard to say, but I know the thought of it scares me a lot. It may help him slightly with his new VP running mate Sarah Palin however. Being that she is younger and more likely to be in touch with the younger generation (she has a 17 year old daughter… err, let me rephrase that. A PREGNANT 17 year old daughter), this bodes well for McCain. Not to mention Palin reminds me of a sexy librarian and I am sure I am not the only one. Giggity giggity.
The one real advantage McCain’s age does give him however, is experience. There is a lot to be said for personal experience and it is not something that can be learned. McCain has quite a bit more experience than his democratic opponent Barack Obama. It is something gained over time and hopefully if McCAin is elected, it will be enough to make his presidency not so scary.

Well said
I found your site on Google and read a few of your other entires. Nice Stuff. I’m looking forward to reading more from you.
You know, I have to tell you, I really enjoy this blog and the insight from everyone who participates. I find it to be refreshing and very informative. I wish there were more blogs like it. Anyway, I felt it was about time I posted, I
Great Blog post. I am going to bookmark and read more often. I love the Blog template
I am glad you enjoy reading the blog. I have fun doing it and it is always fun to hear from readers out there.
Well, the election is now over, but I hope it’s not too late to comment on your blog… I don’t see where anything you have said here is valid. You basically went on about age and tried to make McCain out to be a villain. We’ve had a lot of old presidents, like, uh…all of em? My grandparents both recently died in their late 70’s, and neither of them had mental problems until they were in their last hours on their death beds. Only a small percentage of folks lose it before their 80’s. John McCain isn’t going senile any time soon. Looks is also a poor reason to choose or not choose a candidate. You’re missing all the real issues, such as the political ideals, plans, and the candidate’s character.
I also read a blog on this website about Obama. I assume it was yours too. I found it also to be full of unimportant issues. You basically made it all about race and racial tensions. The VAST majority of people in this country don’t care about race any more. Yes, even the vast majority of us down here in the deep south (I come from Louisiana, and that comment was actually offensive). If you want to really know what’s scary about Obama, it has absolutely NOTHING to do with race or racial tensions. It’s several things. For one, he is blindly admired and he’s a media darling who can “do no wrong”, which is very dangerous. Secondly, he ran his whole campaign on the prospect of this huge and great “change we need”, however he has NO new or innovative ideas or plans. In fact, no one actually knows what this “change” will be. Maybe he simply means something silly like the change will just be him living in the white house instead of Bush, or maybe it’s the more likely and frightening thing…he has a secretive hidden agenda. What’s also scary (and I’m not saying this because I support Bush, because I actually don’t care for him too much) is that the media has turned Bush into a scapegoat for all of the modern day problems. The reason it is scary is because now people totally believe he and the republicans are to blame, despite the fact that the senate and house has been controlled by a democratic majority through out his administration. So what is so scary you ask? Well now, the media has turned most Americans against the Republican party, and they hold blameless the democrats who have actually had the most power. Now we will have Obama, a VERY radical liberal, and an even stronger liberal majority in the senate and house. They (democrats) have went from being the reigning party, to the almighty. THIS is what is scary.
I am NOT a member of either political party. I stay away from all the political hype, and I’m a straight shooter. But, I know that when one party is that much more powerful than the other, WE are in SERIOUS trouble. And it is not as if we aren’t in enough already. It really bothers me that people can let the media sway them that strongly, and basically control their thoughts and beliefs. That is probably the most frightening. It’s time for Americans to think with their brains, and not with their TVs. Otherwise, we truly are doomed.
My advice to you: You should do one of two things. #1, Just make a full blown liberal blog site, talk about Liberal ideals, philosophy, politics, agenda, or… #2) Make a fair, moderate, and politically balanced website which will would appeal to a very broad audience and likely be very popular. But, no matter which one you pick, talk about the REAL ISSUES. Age and race aren’t real issues. That’s not what Americans care about these days, except for a very silly few.
I’m not trying to be harsh or mean to you. You are always free to email me to talk. We can chit-chat, debate, discuss, argue, whatever, but it MUST be civilized. I will not respond to insults.
