#24… If Marijuana Was Legalized

Let me just start by saying that I think there is a lot of merit to the idea of legalizing marijuana. One of the most valid arguments I think I have heard is that the government could tax the hell out of marijuana and collect a sh*tload of money from selling it. People buy it whether it is legal or not so the government may as well profit off of it much like they do with cigarettes. The government probably already has some super weed that they are growing in labs somewhere in the middle of the desert, and I bet they could get top dollar for that stuff.
But when I really think about it, it would be scary as hell how things might change if it were legalized. I can only imagine visiting my sister, discussing life and family and then all of a sudden she just pulls out a doobie and lights up. That would just be a strange sight to see. I imagine that people would be walking the streets rather aimlessly, muttering to themselves that they need some Cheetos. Junk food sales would no doubt sky rocket, so I would be sure to invest in those companies. Meanwhile, productivity would go down at work, but I bet there would be some really radical ideas being tossed around at corporate meetings. A free doobie with every purchase anyone?
Not being a pot smoker myself, I just find it hard to imagine what society would be like if marijuana was legal. Maybe it would just be more funny that it would be scary. I know I would enjoy my pets company a lot better if I were to sit down and enjoy a joint after work. Personally I think somehow that the scariness factor would over rule. You would have no clue if yoru taxi driver or your boss or whoever was high… until they started acting very strange or started driving 10 miles below the speed limit. The world would just become a lot different place.
At least that is what I think.

Don’t worry, potheads are generally laid back people who still act responsibly when they are needed to, ie, work, driving, watching kids, ect.
It’s use would be severly regulated as is any drug that is legal, impaired will be decided by a level of impairment like with alcohol.
Quite simply though, I think most folk who want to smoke weed, want to do so in the comfort of their own home, not in public with the exception of going out to a bar and possibly deciding to smoke along with a drink, and if they are drinking then they hopefully are responsible enough to have a driver.
There is certainly no risk of marijuana driving deaths, I really seriously doubt doctors will smoke out before work.
It’s not like it would be anymore dangerous than having alcohol be legal….i mean do you worry about your boss being drunk? or your cab driver? there would still be restrictions, it’s not like you could just smoke whenever or wherever you feel like it……duh. It would be the same as drinking, there would be an age and appropriate places and times to smoke it…..

I imagine pot legalization as sort of a milder form of alcohol being legal. Obviously you wouldn’t be getting high before work (although I know there’s people that do it anyway) and probably being high in public would fall under the same sort of rules as public drunkness. I don’t imagine it being a whole lot different from the way things are now, except like you said, the government would profit off of it, and we’d free up a good amount of police officer’s time and resources.
do any of you smoke weed? there are a few people that get it from the government, and they smoke it wile driving, on breaks and during lunch, and are very successful at what they do. i’ve known lots of people that smoke it at work, and while it may slow them down, they are still quit attentive to detail.
IF pot is ever legal, you will see a slight increase in use, those not allowed to smoke in fear of losing their job, plus a few nubes, but for the most part..nothing. people are just generally in a better mood, that’s it. weed is illegal because of corporate interests, mainly. the best all inclusive video today, that i’ve come across is the union – the business of getting high.
I think being high at the wheel is more dangerous than being drunk because the police often can’t tell if the driver is high ’cause he doesn’t stink as when being drunk.
Well…That’s the thing though…There’s no reason why someone that is high at the wheel would get pulled over…Unless you’ve smoked like an ounce of weed right before you left the house…MAYYBE…maybe.
It’s all good…Weed has never done anything but make people think MORE…maybe gain a little weight (at the worst of things)…become inspired…and relax you. And you’re right…Corperate interests.

The use of marijuana only gets bad when it is used with alchohol…or as people mostly use alchohol for…”to get fucked up”. andd…weeeeellll? That’s just not what it does…if anything, I think alchohol should be limited…not illlllllegal…but limited….and marijuana should be completely legal…and advertised…and brought into the light. I hate having to be careful about talking to people about weed…like at work….I can talk about alchohol like nobody’s business…but when I say something to someone who doesnt smoke…theyre all like…”Whaaaaaa….” “Weed is crazy”…just like back in the day when they made all of those films trying to make people think it makes you insaaaaane or something.

Yes, it can increase the potential for bad reactions in people that have mental illness already present. But, also, I have a good number of mental illness and I smoke everyday because it actually helps. And it’s virtually impossible to OD on it, for crying out loud. Before you make dumbass judgements on pot, try it before hand. That try it before does not, however go for any other drug, because all others you can OD on..

This is absolutely insane, marijuana is about as strong as a tobacco. I dont smoke but I have before, I know that marijuana is completely harmless (unless you are a child) .
